ABSTRACT

For Eric Rogers, discussion of the nature of science was an essential part of any science course, and he saw that this could sometimes be done through the history of science. The 1989 version of the National Curriculum in Science for England and Wales contained a section on the nature of science, including some history of science. Subsequent revisions moved this work into a section on scientific investigations and although it now has a lower profile than at the time the work described here began, it has not disappeared completely.
