ABSTRACT

Photoluminescence excitation spectra of serpentine superlattice quantum wire arrays with lateral periods near 10 nm have been measured in magnetic fields up to 20 Tesla. The binding energies of coupled 1D excitons have been directly determined from the analysis of Landau-level-like excited magneto-exciton transitions observed in the low-field limit. The enhancement of 1D excitonic binding is observed compared to 2D, with a reduction in the exciton binding energy for very narrow quantum wires.
