ABSTRACT
In this paper we review the progress of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (vcsels) by featuring the materials, process technologies, performances, and so on. Advanced technology for aiming at spontaneous emission control, photon recycling, polarization control, wavelength tuning, integration etc. will be introduced. Also, we discuss on integration issues and applications.
