ABSTRACT

In microelectronics, where the feature size of devices is of the order of μm, conduction electrons and positive holes can be treated as if they were to be classical particles. On the other hand in nanoelectronics, where the feature size of devices is of the order of nm, the wave nature of electronics appears explicitly. Nanoelectronics has advantages in miniaturization of devices, low power consumption and realization of new circuit configurations over microelectronics, but nanoelectronics and microelectronics are complimentary and will co-prosper.
