ABSTRACT

Harmonic generation due to nonlinear Thomson scattering of linearly polarized intense laser pulses is investigated with a single electron model. The harmonic angular distribution and the dependence of harmonic intensities on laser intensity are given. It is shown that the harmonic, intensities vary periodically against the scattering angle for each harmonic order and against the harmonic order for a fixed angle. Formulae are obtained to calculate the periods. The conversion efficiencies of harmonic are evaluated for underdense and overdense plasmas.
