ABSTRACT

An aluminum slab target was irradiated by a glass laser light with the irradiance of 1.5×1012 W/cm2. In this experiment, the irradiation laser light consisted of 16 multi-pulse, and each pulse had 80 ps width (FWHM) and was separated by 100 ps. The amplification of soft x-ray light in the lithiumlike aluminum recombining plasma was observed, and we obtained the gain length product of 3.7 for the 15.4 nm and 4.0 for the 10.5 nm lines for the 2.5 cm-length target. A comparison of the experimental result with a hydrodynamics simulation coupled with a collisional-radiative model was done.
