ABSTRACT
One of the earliest proposed but so far not realized soft x-ray laser is based on innershell photoionization of atomic sodium. Results of first experiments aimed on the observation of fluorescence at the laser transition are reported. As a pump source the radiation from a neon-like germanium soft x-ray laser is used.
