ABSTRACT

A tabletop YAG laser system has been developed as a pumping source for a compact x-ray laser system. A pulse train YAG laser beam was line focused on an Al slab target by using a new focusing system consisted of a segmented prism array, a beam expander and a cylindrical lens. The intensity distribution was uniform along the focal line including micro dots. By using this method, two strong Li-like Al emissions, at 10.57 nm : All0+(3d-5f), and at 15.47 nm : Al10+(3d-4f), were observed with a pumping energy of less than 2 J.
