ABSTRACT

Spectral distributions of small signal gain and spontaneous emission line profiles are considered for some recombination and resonantly photopumped X-ray laser schemes utilizing the n=4–6 to n’=3,4 transitions in He, Li, and Na-like ions. Calculation results have shown that for the plasma conditions of interest the inclusion of ion inicrofields considerably lowers the achievable laser gain and affects spectral gain and emission line profiles mostly through the line-broadening effects.
