ABSTRACT

The self-alignment of the 2ps3s(J = 1) level ((2p 1/2, 3s1/2)1) of the neonlike germanium ions in the expanding plasma is calculated by the method of Monte Carlo simulation. The polarization relaxation (disalignment) rate is estimated from the Stark broadening. Under a certain plasma condition, the calculated result shows that the substantial population imbalance among the magnetic sublevels is generated.
