ABSTRACT

Problems are outlined impeding the plasma spectra and lasing effect modelling. Methods are suggested to solve some of them. Plasma spectra modelling have shown that there exist optimum plasma conditions for lasing. These plasma conditions and time gating for ASE observations are different for each kind of atom. They are, in principle, different for each kind of transition.

We consider lasing on Ne-like ion transitions in a silver plasma. The optimum conditions for ASE production in silver plasma are at near critical electron density The possibility of lasing at the shorter wavelength transition 2s3s [J=0] - 2p3s [J=1] (λ = 2.75 nm) is considered.
