ABSTRACT

The results of a photoluminescence (PL) study of CdA12S4 single crystals under excimer laser excitation (hvexc = 5 eV) are presented. A broad PL band centred at 3.387 eV (T = 8 K) is observed at the intensity of excitation Iexc = 56 mJ cm−2. The analysis of the time-resolved spectra shows the decay of fluorescence to be faster at high temperatures. Under low excitation intensities, CdA12S4 exhibits narrow PL peaks at 3.352, 3.302, 3.286 and 3.236 eV, the last two ones being attributed to phonon replicas of the high-energy peaks.
