ABSTRACT

CuInS2 absorber layers and solar cells are fabricated without toxic gas using a two step process. Sputtered copper and indium precursors are reacted to CuInS2 in elemental sulphur vapour. After sulphurization two types of absorber layers with both, different absorption edges and sub-bandgap transitions are obtained as confirmed by electroreflectance and quantum efficiency measurements. Solar cells with total area efficiencies of 9.8 % have been fabricated.
