ABSTRACT

The pseudobinary system ZnIn2Se4-CuInSe2 was studied by differential thermal analysis and X-ray powder diffraction. A miscibility gap which separates the two mixed crystal regions was found at 0.59≤ xCu ≤0.77. From xcu=0.35 to xCu=1 a sphalerite type high temperature phase occurs having a minimum transition temperature of 490 °C in the range of the miscibility gap. Incongruent melting behaviour is observed for all phases. The band gap as function of composition was estimated from diffuse reflectivity measurements.
