ABSTRACT

CuIn(TexSe1-x)2 were deposited on glass substrates by pulsed laser deposition using a Nd: YAG laser and polycrystalline targets. The structural, compositional and optical properties have been determined. The effect of the substrate temperature on the structure and orientation of the films has been investigated. A single phase chalcopyrite structure is formed in all the films. The composition of the target materials was largely maintained in the thin films which had densely packed columnar grains. The CuIn(Te,Se)2 films have the optical absorption coefficient 104-105 above the fundamental edge and their band gaps change from 0.97 eV to 1.00 eV with increasing of Se content.
