ABSTRACT

In the TlBi(SexS1-x)2 mixed crystals a rather continuous shifting of their physical properties with x increasing from 0 to 1, was detected. However, for x-values in the vicinity of 0.75, unexpected deviations appeared. In this work we present the study of the influence of the Se-content x on the structure, the optical and the electrical properties of the TlBi(SexS1-x)2 system, for x = 0.7÷0.8. Transmission Electron Microscopy observations reveal that for these x-values a high density of planar defects exists, caused by different stoichiometric arrangements or different phases. These specific structural formations are responsible for the behavior of the different physical properties examined.
