ABSTRACT

High quality AgGaS2 single crystals were successfully grown by a self-seeding vertical gradient freezing method, using a capillary longer than the super cooling region. The grown crystals exhibited dominant excitonic emission without any deep emission in low-temperature photoluminescence, indicating the high purity of the materials. The emission from the lower branch and upper branch of exciton-polaliton structure was observed in the low-temperature photoluminescence at 2.694eV and 2.699eV, respectively.
