ABSTRACT

The structure and chemistry of powders and thick films of TiO2 (anatase)-based systems to be used in gas sensing applications have been characterised using electron microscopy techniques (SEM, TEM,EDX, X-ray mapping). Valuable information has been obtained about the relative morphological, structural and chemical features of the various components of the materials examined, which were either loose, heat-treated powders or films screen-printed on alumina substrates. This information is being used to guide the design of improved gas-sensing systems.
