ABSTRACT
Computer controlled SEM / EDS enables the unattended analysis of both the geometry and the chemical composition of thousands of individual particles. This method has been applied to a biomass fly ash. The correlations that can be derived from such measurements can help to understand the basic mechanisms of heavy metal deposition on fly ash particles as well as of deposition and corrosion mechanisms in boilers.
