ABSTRACT

A magnetic barrier system allows new aspects of electron transport. In this paper, the fabrication of a magnetic barrier in a 2-dimensional electron gas with two current contacts and four potential probes, and the observation of quantized magnetoresistance due to the magnetic barrier are described. A resistance plateau of h/6e 2 is observed near a magnetic field of 4.7 T and the gate voltage of 0.0 V. A quantized resistance is explained by the Landauer-Büttiker formula.
