ABSTRACT

We have evaluated the exciton spin state in quantum wells theoretically, taking into account the center-of-mass dispersion. The finite center-of-mass momentum causes the strong mixing between the heavy-hole and the light-hole exciton states. The mixing induced not only the spin depolarization but also the dark states of the excitons. The temperature dependence and the well width dependence of the exciton spin polarization are studied as well.
