ABSTRACT

Web enhancements to university courses offered via televised distance education can address several of the problems presented by the geographical barriers inherent in this delivery system. This article describes a Web site, The Teachers Lounge, developed for a distance education course in collaboration for special education teachers. Students at six separate locations were able to interact and collaborate around case studies presented on the Web. The article describes the conceptualization and development of the site, the students' reactions to the site, and suggestions to others interested in using similar Web applications.
