ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the short introduction to our domain, the design of buildings with complex installations. It provides an incomplete layout can be used as a vague query, and how the layouts retrieved can help to complete, assess, or modify the current problem. The chapter also discusses the indexing scheme to incorporate complex gestalten in order to improve the precision of the method. A case-based reasoner is much more than an information system: The cases have to be represented in a particular way that allows one to interpret them as problems and solutions. Computer support essentially depends on suitable representations. Ideally, one would like to have one data model integrating all aspects of building design. The indices used in the associative memory are aimed at a high recall so that all relevant plans will be found. To increase precision and remove irrelevant plans, we have to take into account information about the spatial relations between the objects in a plan.
