ABSTRACT
Quaternary ammonium compounds have traditionally been utilized for emulsified hair conditioners. Later advances led to the development of quaternaries, which were less irritating and are compatible with shampoos and liquid soap detergents. These innovations paved the way for commercial applications in skin care creams and lotions.
