ABSTRACT
The characterization and quantification of forces at interfaces is one of the most fundamental efforts in materials surface and interfacial science [1,2]. The ultimate goal of this endeavor is the capability to predict and explain the behavior of materials at interfaces by an analytical approach based on the quantification of interfacial forces, and to design material or surface structures for a specific goal on a rational basis of knowledge of the surface structure-properties relationship.
