ABSTRACT

Polymer colloids play an important role in many industrial processes such as paints, coatings, adhesives, sealants, latex foams, surface sizing, and many other products, and also in biomedical fields for immunoassays, biological cell-labeling, and drug delivery [1]. The rapid increase in the utilization of latexes over the last two decades is due to a number of factors: Water-based systems avoid many of the environmental problems associated with organic-solvent based systems; latexes can be designed to meet a wide range of application problems; emulsion polymerization on a large scale proceeds smoothly for a wide range of monomers.
