ABSTRACT

A better understanding of the structure of asphalts is desirable, not only for scientific purposes, but also from the technological and economic points of view as this binder is used in road technology in France, to the extent of about 3 million tons annually. Assuming that a road covering contains less than 10% of asphalt, more than 30,000,000 tons of material, used annually to lay foundations and driving surfaces of roads and highways, depends on the properties of the binder for its performance and longevity.
