ABSTRACT

The Statistical Analysis System (SAS) is an integrated set of statistical and data-management programs. Also included in SAS are a high-level programming language and a powerful matrix language, both of which are used in this program. Although SAS originally ran only on IBM mainframe computers, at the time of this writing (October 1982) the SAS Institute had announced plans to adapt it to run on minicomputers as well. Any data can be put into a SAS data set, usually with just a few statements, and thus can be analyzed by all SAS procedures, as well as the program described herein. Readers wishing more information on SAS can consult the user's guide (SAS, 1979) or the SAS Institute, Box 8000, Cary, NC 27511-8000. SAS is a registered trademark of the SAS Institute, Inc.
