ABSTRACT
Interest in the surgical application of lasers has increased greatly since 1978 when only 12 titles were listed under laser treatment in the Cumulated Index Medicus. Only 4 years later, the 1982 Cumulated Index Medicus listed 212 articles about laser therapy, and recently a journal entitled Lasers in Surgery and Medicine was established. Interest in the urological application of laser surgery continues to grow at a rapid rate and is currently being incorporated into the urological armamentarium.
