ABSTRACT

To deliver products satisfying different consumers, the detergent industry has to master not only the formulations but also the ways they interact with the different types of soils and surfaces. The rules to optimize the solubilization of oily materials in surfactant aqueous solutions are discussed 494as a function of temperature, amphiphile structure, additives in water, and oil nature. The solubilization of oil or grease in nonaqueous media is also discussed in terms of solvent solubility parameters and molar volume.
