ABSTRACT
The preceding nine chapters attempt to cover in one volume the present state of knowledge of vancomycin and related glycopeptide antibiotics. Because of the intense interest in this subject, several significant publications—especially in the areas of resistance development to these antibiotics, SAR, dimerization of these antibiotics in aqueous solution, and the relevance of these phenomena to biological activity and total synthesis—have appeared since the manuscript was submitted for this book. These publications are listed below and cover the period through the end of 1993.
