ABSTRACT

As we have known, the optimal control theory of distributed parameter systems has been employed in the identification problems of stratum structure for quite a long time and a variety of practical problems have been studied by many authors(see [1]-[4]). This paper presents a new method for identifying the acoustical impedance distribution which interpret the reflection seismic data taking account of all the multiple reflections. Comparing with some other used methods, the main advantages of the method derived by using optimal control theory are that it does not require a complicated preliminary treatment of the recorded data, and has been theoretically provided to be stable in presence of noise corrupting the seismograms(see [3]). The present method is based on theory of character line. In comparision with [3]-[4] the algorithm given by this paper is possessed of the computational efficiency saving memories and computation time. If the stratum is divided by m layers, this algorithm needs only 6m memories, but that of [3]-[4] needs 2m 2 at least.
