ABSTRACT

Electronics recycling is an emerging industry that is at a critical point in its development, in terms of growth and challenges. As the production and use of electronics products continues to increase dramatically throughout both the business and public sectors, the challenges of disposal and recovery of materials are becoming significant. The Mid-Atlantic Recycling Center for End-of-Life (EOL) Electronics (MARCEE) is creating and implementing a replicable regional model for the full disposition of electronic products and materials. “MARCEE” is developing a business model and corresponding path to commercialization for a prototype regional electronic processing center. After completion, MARCEE has the potential to create thousands of new jobs and investments in the West Virginia region, and will serve as a model that can be duplicated throughout the World.
