ABSTRACT
The sparse-coat mutation arose spontaneously at the Jackson Laboratory in 1966 on a stock carrying jagged-tail (jg. Chromosome 5) and buff (bf, Chromosome 5). 1 This is a recessive mutation that has been mapped to Chromosome 14 (Figure 1). 2 Partial map of mouse Chromosome 14 shows the location of the sparse-coat locus <bold>(*spc)</bold>.
