ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of possible approach to describing some of the key variable characteristics of modern office seating. The customers are provided with a variety of measures of car performance to predict how a car will feel and whether it will suit their needs and preferences. Certainly, the measures described below are not the only worthwhile measures, nor do they perfectly measure their underlying constructs. The two chairs may have identical average recline stiffness, but the patterns through the recline range are different. However, chair A reclines a great deal with a slight shift in weight while chair B does reach an equivalent recline until more than half of the weight shift is accomplished. Ideally, a full test of recline stiffness would provide information regarding a broad range of users, over a series of tilt tension settings. As with tilt stiffness and back/seat co-recline, one cannot evaluate such characteristics without subjective opinions.
