ABSTRACT

The SOPHIE code was therefore developed with this in view. It is used to calculate the transport, deposition, and possible revaporization of volatile fission products in the vapor phase, which are released from the core during the accident and propagated inside the primary circuit. This code processes the transport and deposition of fission product (F.P.) vapors of the circuit where the gas temperature is higher than the transition temperature, and provides the F.P. mass available between the vapor phase and the aerosol phase, together with the vapor source for a possible salting-out. Condensation of F.P. vapors at the wall occurs when the pressure of this vapor in the carrier fluid is greater than the saturation vapor pressure at wall temperature. The transport and deposition of fission products in the primary circuit are analyzed using two codes from the ESCADRE code system.
