ABSTRACT

In interviews, medical schools often test applicants on their understanding of medical current affairs. Books and films are a great source of inspiration and entertainment and there are many available. Some bring to life the experiences and discoveries of fascinating individuals, while others can spark debate on ethical dilemas and contentious issues. Team work is an essential tool for patient care. Respecting and appreciating colleagues helps days run smoother and makes life easier. Pharmaceutical companies offer gifts and paid trips to conferences in the hope of swaying prescription in their favour. The NHS is quite a common area of discussion in interviews, especially with the current financial and political climate, and the difficulties faced in maintaining the needs of the public. Members of Parliament pass reforms based on their perception of the problems of the NHS and the needs of the population.
