ABSTRACT
In the fall of 1994, Seiberg and Witten (see [8, 9] and [17]) introduced a remarkable new pair of equations on a Riemannian four-manifold with a chosen Spinc -structure. In this note we review the results announced in [12]. The proofs of the assertions below will appear in [13, 14, 15, 16].
