ABSTRACT
In asymptotic expansions it is common practice to discard exponentially small remainders. It is shown in this paper that benefit accrues from keeping them in a suitable form. The region of validity of the asymptotic approximation to an integral is thereby considerably extended. Also the accuracy of the approximation is improved by an appreciable factor.
