ABSTRACT

The Dutch government developed a certain strategy of dealing with terrorist acts. The essence of this strategy, as Prime Minister see it, could be formulated thus: The duty of governments is to save the lives of captured innocent people, without giving in on any essential point to the terrorists. Though the author do not think that what we achieved in Holland in the fight against terrorism is anything to be particularly proud of, he do think that, compared with some other countries, they did not do badly. At the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s, they proceeded to violent action. In 1970 they attacked the Indonesian Embsssy and took the Indonesian Ambassador as a hostage for one day.
