ABSTRACT

In discussing the problem of the media and terrorism, what we need above all is clarity. It’s a wonderful, precise and perfect word to define our primary need, from which all acts of political wisdom and courage follow. With rare and notable exceptions, the role of this community in the struggle against terrorism has not been to bring clarity, but to serve as an outright impediment to it. The American journalist community, with a few notable exceptions, suffers from an inability to recognize any threat from, to understand any dangerous implications of, or to admit any damning evidence in the case of, those movements it perceives to be on the Left.
