Now, ladies and gentlemen, I am going to throw the discussion open. May I remind you that what we are discussing — so as not to stray too far outside it — is the role of the media in the struggle against terrorism, and that the working definition of terrorism we have for the purposes of this Jerusalem Conference is, “the deliberate systematic murder, maiming and menacing of the innocent to inspire fear in order to gain political ends.”
