ABSTRACT

The importance of an intellectual inquiry into the problems of terrorism. The first is the importance of an intellectual inquiry into the problems of terrorism. In dealing with this problem, we must move in the world of ideas so that we can combat and resist the nihilistic and brutalizing philosophies of violence. The second point which has emerged with enormous clarity throughout the Conference has been that one of the chief aids to such moral subversion and confusion is the degradation of language. The message concerns something that Vladimir Bukovsky underlined so powerfully and so movingly in the speech which brought this Conference to an end: The will of the West to fight against those things that threaten it. The author expresses the hope that this Conference will mark a new phase in the struggle of democratic societies against the forces of darkness which threaten them.
