ABSTRACT

This article first compares and contrasts the essential, fundamental differences between traditional and digital information mediums. It then reexamines the role of the online public access catalog (OPAC), refines the definition of a library’s catalog, and advocates the addition of Internet resources within the OPAC. Next, the article describes the building of the Alex Catalog, a catalog of Internet resources in the form of MARC records. Finally, this article outlines a process of integrating the further inclusion of other Internet resources into OPACs as well as some of the obstacles such a process manifests. 1 [Article copies available from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: 1-800-342-9678.
