ABSTRACT

The use of computerized monitoring of individual workers has made the scheduling and budgeting of work easier and quicker. When the computer counts the output of a worker, it can be color, gender, and disability blind. The worker knows exactly what is expected when it comes to quantity and quality of output. Performance evaluation becomes fair and objective. The good performers can be urged to keep up the good work, while the poor performers can be directed to exact techniques for improving their performance. All computerized monitoring systems for clerical work include a feedback system that allows the worker to access information about their performance against a standard at any time. This feedback can be used to improve the worker’s performance.
