ABSTRACT

When one thinks about ergonomics it is difficult not to think of the meatpacking industry. Meatpacking and rendering facilities were at the forefront of ergonomic hazard recognition as a result of the high incidence of repetitive motion problems. However, the rest of the agriculture industry is often neglected by many occupational health and safety professionals. Ergonomic problems are as prevalent on family farms, commercial farms and related agricultural industries such as agricultural co-operatives as in any manufacturing facility.
