ABSTRACT

The case studies found in this section examine ergonomic issues in office environments. While Video Display Terminals (VDTs) appear to be the office equipment that contributes to ergonomic risks in this environment, there are many types of office equipment that require repetitive motions. Calculators, communication switchboards, and cash registers are just some of the many types of equipment that should be analyzed from an ergonomic perspective. In addition to office equipment, one of the case studies in this section examines ergonomic issues associated with office layout. People, furniture, equipment, and general layout are all factors that require ergonomic analysis.
