ABSTRACT

Metallic mineralization in the Myszków area is one example of several known areas with porphyry-type deposits that have been identified within a poorly defined belt of Palaeozoic rocks in south-central Poland. The mineralisation and stockwork veining at Myszków are typical of most calc-alkaline porphyry copper systems with substantial molybdenum content, except for an unusually high concentration of tungsten. Therefore, the Myszków deposit is probably better classified as being a porphyry molybdenum-tungsten type. The tungsten enrichment at Myszków seems to be unique among deposits of this type in Europe. The Late Carboniferous age of the mineralisation may also be unique for European porphyry deposits.
