ABSTRACT

40Ar/39Ar dating of magmatic and hydrothermal minerals (hornblende, biotite, K-feldspar) from magmatic and metasomatic rocks in the Sora ore district (Russia) demonstrates the prolonged duration (from 481 to 358 Ma years ago) of magmatic and hydrothermal activity in this ore-forming system. Low-grade Mo mineralization is related to Tygertysh complex (422-416 Ma). The economically important major Mo-Cu mineralization is closely related in time and space to the ore-bearing porphyry complex (age of rocks - 405-388 Ma).
