ABSTRACT

The whole rock analysis of chromite ores for PGE, Ni, Co, V, Zn and Ti, and phase analysis of chromite, PGM, and silicate assemblages, as inclusions in chromite can be used for delineation of chromite potential in early exploration stages. The most promising ophiolite complexes are those which in addition to hydrous parent magma (island arc or back-arc geotectonic environment) contain only one chromite ore type (high-Cr or -Al) of limited compositional variation and low ratios of incompatible/compatible elements.
